I’m going on record once again as saying I have no freaking idea who 90% of my team is but they seemed ranked high on Yahoo. All I know about football is what I watch of the Steelers so let me know what you think of this team.

I always draft Romo, don’t know why. Hines was a panic pick when WR were going fast. Heath Miller is my favorite TE. Kellen I think was a Cleve Brownie, Devin has a cool last name, Donovan was a pick up so Woy (whom didnt have any QB by the 7th round) would have even a more limited selection at QB, and the rest no clue. Oh wait i had chester Taylor last season and I think he bombed every game.
No idea how I’ll do but eh the trash talking is why I do this.
Now if it was hockey… all your asses would be mine! MUWHAHAHAHAHA!

I love fantasy football with my friends because I talk a lot of smack. I won’t lie. The fact that I really don’t know wtf I’m doing makes it even more fun. I’ve said it before, I know stats so my draft usually sucks but I pick up a lot in free agency, trades and watching trends. This year has been rather good to me but yesterday the bottom dropped out and people are catching up. Here’s where we’re at so far with this week’s downfall.
Yinz Team: Capt. Geech (4-2) – I lost to Pitt Girl (Skippy’s Sluts) yesterday and Jeff Reed celebrated by getting arrested for being a drunken mess again. I’m not making excuses even though my top QB and RB were on BYE weeks and Willie Parker still has alien toe but I shall take the loss gracefully since she can only beat me when I field replacements
See you in the playoffs sweetheart!
Hop Heads Anonymous 2: Utensils (3-3) - Tom Brady, I hate you. Seriously, go play in traffic. In this league he racked up 84 points last night and I lost in the greatest landslide of our league 195-104 to Irish Car Bomb.
RMU Pick’m: CaptGeecj&ShrimpShackShooters (62 points) - This is a league where you pick the winners each week. I currently have a 2 point lead over ShruteFarms which was once 4. Philly and the Jets really biffed up my selections by blowing their games. Chicago, why did I even bother.
Yinz Team Pick’m: fatherspoon (61 points) - Another pick’m like previous but in this league i’m currently 4th. Previously I was 2nd and 1st. Every week this changes and the same results as above. I don’t mind seeing Uncle Crappy in the top slot since he’s a Browns fan and with Ohio State losing this weekend also I think he needs the good news.
Romo, Gore and Parker will all be back and healthy next week and I play Papuga. Bring it on lil lady!

This is our last Christmas holiday without the pitter patter of little feet. Jackson will probably be about 8 months old by this time next year. We spent last night at my brother’s house with his family and my mom. While it’s over 50F in Pittsburgh and no snow on the ground it was still a Christmas atmosphere. We ate, we drank, I rocked the ping pong table and then NHL08 with the boys. I brought over a bottle of Southern Tier Choklat which I think is the greatest chocolate beer ever brewed. You can read my review of it here.
This morning was nice and lazy for Lushie and myself. While watching A Christmas Story for the 4th time this season we opened present and munched on Chex Mix she had made earlier this week. Right now the best present of the holiday is the 1st season of Welcome Back Kotter. Quit laughing, I’m a Kotter junkie
I’d like to take a moment and thank everyone for their support this past year. I became better friends with the Yinz Team gang, found out we’re having a baby boy in the new year, watched my podcast reach many milestones, heard the news of my company announcing it’s shutting down and made new friends through social networking. Life is at an interesting crossroads right now and I thank all of you for making 2008 a fun trip.
May all of you have a joyous holiday season and enjoy fine craft beverages!
cheers!

I’ve been slacking on my blogging duties this past week but with the holidays and job hunting… yeah I know, I’m making excuses. It’s been more motivation than anything. So here’s what happened since the last post.
Thursday
Went to my brother’s house for Thanksgiving only he and his boys weren’t there. They drove down to Duke to watch the slaughter of Duquesne basketball. Instead we spent it with my Mom (who came down), my sister in law and my niece who was home from college. The meal was nice, the wine flowed and the conversations were decent.
Friday
My Black Friday experience is coming up in the next post. Yes, there was that much drama. Moving on… Friday night was spent with bowling, beer and buds at Lokay Lanes. Showing off their mad bowling skills along with myself were Woy, the Other White Jim, tehjim, T-ray, Fu, Claire and Justin. I was a train wreck on the lanes but no one noticed as the 103 liter beer dispenser kept everyone occupied. OK maybe a couple of refills on it. I did learn that Brunswick apparently has a music video channel of songs we never knew were made into video. I will be back to dominate.
Saturday
I love that picture above and to fully appreciate it you had to be there. It’s from the Yinz Team Turkey Bowl. I’m in the Steelers jersey, tehjim is to my left and in front of us is mini-bling. The game was Frackle (Flag/Tackle football) and this was at the point where the rush count was replaced by a line. Myself and tehjim being the line. Yes I am laughing, as you see mini-bling is only 12 and much smaller than us. Each play he got destroyed but still rose back up looking for more pain. Kinda like being a Pirates fan for the last 16 years. I wish there was video because seeing 2 grown men swat a kid down like a fly is quite comical. Our team won 6 to something. I had a TD and a sack.

Saturday night was more bowling but with my league and I did better than the previous night. Lushie taunted me and I took it. Seriously, you don’t mess with a pregnant wife. You drink your beer and bowl.
Sunday
Drove mom home and made it back to Pittsburgh in a total trip of less than 4 hours so I could catch the Steelers game. Erie had a foot of snow and Pittsburgh not even a dusting. You think I’m glad i moved?

That right there.
In the 2008/09 edition of the Yinz Team Celebrity Blogger/Podcaster Fantasy Football Because Hockey Hasn’t Started Yet League, I lost the first week by a score of 80.47 – 80.37 because Chester fucking Taylor couldn’t run one more yard.
It is Uncle Crappy though and since he is a talented journalist and craft beer enthusiast I won’t dog on him too bad. He does lead a life of ridicule being a Browns fan and that right there even makes Pope Benny XVI go “aw dude… sorry man.”
Just to recap, I lost to THIS guy. I shall go into the box and feel much shame. Fuckin Chester.

prost!
This is what a solid unit of softball greatness looks like.

Wait, no THIS is what greatness looks like

Last night wrapped up our legendary season as Yinz Team finished 0-7 with a first round exit in the playoffs. I said this last night and it’s worth repeating, I’ve played on many baseball/softball teams since I put on my first spikes back at age 5 and without a doubt this was the most fun I have ever had playing on a team. We were there to have a good time (whereas other teams were stocked with roided out “i might get drafted” day dreamers) in the PSL. We would lose but we had fun. Granted the water on our bench was often replaced with the smooth ass taste of Keystone, we found (and pulled) muscles we never knew we had. This is a great team and I plan on being a part of it again next season.
Well, unless the Pirates draft me

*note: I stole those 2 pics from BurghBaby. I have to give her credit before she beats me with her Flickr stick*

Yesterday was a tough day for Yinz Team as our beloved “A” and Hall of Fame pitcher Dawn Papuga is out for the year due to a case of ChronicInjurySyndrome that only the likes of Ken Griffey Jr. can relate to. In fact we think that Jim Lokay put an old polish curse on her but that hasn’t been proven. In our final game of the season Yinz Team rallied to become Paguga Pirates. Seriously, we had a plank to walk and everything.
Unfortunately we ended up dropping the game after a couragous comeback inspired by Rally Caps for Papuga cam up short. Expect a shrine to be established on Mt. Oliver somewhere.

I need to take more weekends off from being online. Almost glad that I don’t have a crackberry or a phone I can surf more with.
Friday
Spent the day at our friend Terri’s house. Plenty of food and fireworks and then a night of relaxing on the couch and packing for the weekend
Saturday
Before we headed out for a weekend of family picnics and roasts we had to make a quick stop at the Pittsburgh Mills for a phone charger for my MIL. Because it was special ordered from the store she had to pick it up there and since it was on our way so we decided to save her a trip.
Verizon Wireless in the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills has to be the largest collection of clueless elitist jagoffs ever assembled and reinforced why I dumped their asses long ago. We’re greeted by 2 men in suits. Lushie says we’re here to pick up a phone charger that was special ordered by Steve to which they reply “we don’t have orders in the store. It would have gone to your house.” Lushie says “It was confirmed that it was here which is why we are here… the corporate store.” Suit 1 replied “You’re not listening, we don’t have orders here.” Again Lushie states “My mother ordered it here and it was confirmed over the phone it was here.” Now the manager comes up and without missing a beat reminds us “I thought he explained it to you that we don’t have orders here.” Quality customer service. We left without the charger and apparently they cant even look up accounts to see what phone you have. Assholes.
Saturday afternoon was filled with family time, bocce, kickin back in the summer sun and blue skies while enjoying the country air. The pics above are of Bella and the crazy insane campfire filled with plenty of beverages, hot dogs and moon pies. Good times my friends.
I love family picnics with my in laws. They really know how to throw a picnic to feed the masses and not worry about how freaking quaint everything looks. You have tables, table cloths, and rows of great summer food. There’s no talk of how to dress your hot dog or how to properly display a dish. It’s “did you eat enough?” and “did you like it”? That’s what summer is about. Having fun and being a bum. If you want snobbery, host a dinner party and wear a suit.
Sunday
Sunday was a crazy day. We had 2 cars with us (long story) but this actually worked out perfect. Lushie had planned on going shopping while I made the drive back to Pittsburgh for an exhibition Yinz Team softball game against Jim Lokay‘s squad. While I bitched and probably lost 10-15 pounds in the sweltering heat at Frick Park, I did manage to rip out 3 doubles and a single in 5 at-bats. Yinz Team is coming around and a mark in the win column is on the horizon. Came home for a shower and chilled in the AC until Lushie came home. Capped the night off with dinner at Mad Mex. Life is good.
How did you spend your holiday?
