Since we didn’t have heat for 4 days it was only expected that both of us would get sick. Yesterday we didn’t leave the living room besides to get cold meds and some food. NyQuil for the most part has done nothing for me in the past but I do have to give it credit. The new brands of it we tried rocked me hard and could be why I’m irritable today (or just the fact I’ve had it with the irritating drama queens around me). I’m also becoming quite fond of the Halls Strawberry Cream Breezers. Cough drops that taste like candy and not a menthol cigarette. Genius!
I need a nap.

That my friends is the home of the best chicken wings I have ever had. I’ve had my fair share of wings over the years and have even traveled for some good wings so to randomly get slapped in the face by goodness is always a sign of greatness. Yeah I’ve had Hooters, Primanti’s, Wing Kings and Quaker Steak which people hold in high regard around here and honestly they pale in comparison to the flavor packed into each wing.
Last Tuesday my brother and I drove to Erie for a 1 day trip to help mom find a new car. By the end of the day we had worked up quite a hunger when our salesman Mighty Mike Maggio suggested we stop by Eli’s for, as he said, “best wings you’ll ever eat.” Yeah I’ve heard that before right? He couldn’t have been more dead on.
When we pulled up it had the facade of a Pittsburgh steel mill bar. Something to keep in mind, these are usually the best places to eat. What amazed me is that I had lived in Erie until I was 22 and never heard of the place. Eli’s boasts a variety of 47 styles and pimps a t-shirt if you finish 40 of the flavors. We ordered 4 flavors. Pegasus Cajun (horseradish and cajun), Buffalo Blues (buffalo wing with blue cheese), Jamacian Jerk (full of flavor and baked) and a golden garlic. Since there were only 3 of us we found the perfect size in 8pc orders. The price is very inexpensive and the beer is cold. If you’re a craft beer fan don’t expect a wide variety besides football beers but that’s par for the course at most bars in Erie. Pictures above were taken with my camera phone and yes they look just as good in person.
Hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday 4p – 2a and Sunday’s during football season 12p – 8p. Use Google Maps to plan your trip to 1002 W 26th, Erie PA 16508 or call them at 814.454.0713 I don’t think they take credit cards so bring cash.
This place has won my stamp of approval as best wing place in my book and yes, I’m willing to drive 2 hours just for their great wings.
cheers!

Over the last 7-8 days I’ve had some incredible thing happen.
1) Started on 6/23 at our bowling banquet. Party went off perfectly and I was made president of the league for the upcoming year. The whole weekend at the resort was fantastic and I can’t wait to see the pictures.
2) The week at work flew by and I completed a ton done of my projects while my boss was out.
3) Everything is settled for my Pens tickets this upcoming season. I’m itchin for hockey!
4 ) 6/26 was the wifey’s birthday and I cooked a kick ass dinner
5 ) 6/27 we found the perfect place to move to (and will be signing the papers tonight!) and also a great home for Studio B!
6 ) 6/28 was a huge brainstorming session for Podcamp Pittsburgh2. Someone’s gonna be in commercials
Also received a call that a good friend of mine is getting married next August. i don’t know who all knows so I’ll keep it hush.
7 ) 6/29 the podcast I’m a part of was pimped hardcore on WDVE’s Morning Show. Our hits and downloads took off! I have my fingers crossed that I can get a copy of the audio.
8 ) 6/30 went to 2 picnics, shot off fireworks, played boccie and took an ATV through some trails in Central PA.
9 ) 7/1 went to ANOTHER picnic and then the Groundhog Festival in Punxsutawney, PA
Tonight we start packing. I’m not looking forward to moving but I am excited to have things organized and living in a significantly larger house. Amazingly I’ve been here for 4 years. Longest of any of my residence in Pittsburgh and always moving farther out of the city.
Cheers!
