Homebrewing is fun for all ages

This weekend I racked my IPA into the secondary and my right hand man insisted on helping out. At first I was hesitant on letting him take part because of the issues I’ve had with this batch so far but I figured whatever he might do will be a learning experience for me. Amazingly he sat back with his juice box and watched in awe.

We boiled the oak chips, sanitized everything and when it was all said and done, had to clean up. I honestly expected he would have bolted the minute I put his butt to work helping me clean buckets but he seemed to enjoy it. It was more of spending time with daddy while his brother was crashed on the couch for nap time.

He thought the trub at the bottom of the bucket looked gross so naturally the kid was into it. When we were done he went back into the living room and watched Toy Story.

This batch is spending 2 weeks in secondary before I bottle it on Groundhog Day and plan the first tasting on my birthday. The ABV is measuring up to be a real kicker so if I was able to get it balanced right you can expect six packs going out as gifts.

Glad to see you’re still brewing. I’ve had my ups and downs, but overall am usually very happy with the end result

The IPA should be ready to open on the 21st which is also my bday. Talk about timing eh? I’m honestly at the point where I’d rather brew than drink it

I really enjoy that too. Another kit from Midwest arrived today – the kiwi IPA

Depending on how this beer turns out I really liked my experience with Midwest. I tried piecing some kits together at South Hills Brewing and they turned out to be more than Midwest with shipping.

I’ve bought supplies there but not kits. I’ve used Midwest and Northern so far, and look at Austin on occasion
