Sesame Street Live – Elmo makes music n’at

Friday the family and I went to see Sesame Street Live at Consol Energy Center as part of a field trip from my boys’ school.  When I was first told about it the thought of being around screaming 2-5 yr old kids for 2 hours was far from appealing but as the day closed in the anticipation in their faces changed my mind. Added bonus was having our seats upgraded when we went to sit!

The production itself was amazing. How on earth the actors are able to see out of those costumes  is beyond me. Being able to keep the routine going for as long as they did and sound effects staying in sync made it a top notch production. The songs were catchy and kids were dancing in their seats… well those of us not on the floor at least.

It was interesting to see how the kids in the arena seats were dancing, singing and having a good time while those on the floor were sitting stiff and proper as if they’re at a formal event. Maybe it’s like having lawn seats at Starlake versus being in the VIP section. You know where the fun is!

I did have a moment of reflection as I parked the car and realized that I was sitting in the middle of what was once Mellon Arena. Granted I LOVE the Pens new stadium but there was a certain charm about that crumbling barn that I’ll always miss.

It was cool for me to be able to show the kids where the Pens play hockey, where daddy sits for games and to show them the history on the walls of Consol. One thing Teaspoon still can’t wrap his head around is how there was ice under the stage.  Just wait until I take him to his first hockey game!

Wow! How did you end up with tickets that were $9.50 Here in Manhattan they are at least $60. I’m trying to buy tickets for my daughter and they are so expensive. I think she will end up missing it. So sad.

That’s what everyone in my section paid. Not sure what the floor seats were going for.
