Happy 3rd birthday Should I Drink That!

It’s been 3 years (over 350,000 downloads, 51 shows and 225+ beers) but it feel like forever since sickpuppy and I started Should I Drink That. What started as an experiment between 2 drinking buddies has exploded into one of the most popular craft beer podcasts online. When we first threw around the idea of doing a show in 2006 all we had available was a webcam and a laptop. We figured a few of our friends would listen and if anyone ever bought us a beer because of it the show was a win.

3 Years later we  have 2 studios we record in, a traveling kit, a cast of 8, have been finalists for 2 Podcast Awards, co-hosted sessions at Podcamp Pittsburgh, have been featured on national TV and in national publications plus have cult like following that we didn’t know existed until we traveled to beer festivals. I say cult like because some of our fans know way more about our show than we do. I won’t worry until someone dresses like us. Plus we’ve made some great friends because of this not only in craft beer circles but in the social media scene.

On a personal level this has also been an emotional ride. Since 06 I’ve lost my father and gained a son. Lushie and I have moved and have seen friends married and divorced. Through it all SIDT has provided a creative outlet and a place to escape to. When the mic turns on, the outside world takes a step back and I get in the zone. I always wanted a career in radio during high school but the family put the brakes on that dream but now I can get that back. Plus I can say pretty much anything I want and not get censored :) woohoo internet radio!

2009 will be HUGE for us. I know I said that last year but the couple of things we’ve already finalized are crazy insane. We’ll be announcing one of them shortly once the promo materials have been made. I’m revamping the site and our marketing will get a boost with a new online store. Thanks for all of your support!

Cheers!
