Recycle FAIL

If you can’t see that, it reads “This label will biodegrade over time, but this container will not. Next time please consider china and reusable service ware when dining with us.”

A few things about this.

  1. I never asked for this container. The person working gave it to me. I wasn’t aware of options.
  2. When I asked a cashier about it she said I could get dining plates and leave them in my kitchen area.
  3. I don’t have a kitchen area at my job. It was ripped out and my “kitchen” is in the mail room.
  4. China? in a cafeteria? seriously?

How about this: “Thank you for patronizing our patronizing cafeteria.”

That seems like some sort of awesome guerrilla art, but since the cashier was aware of it, it just seems kind of passive aggressive…

haha I’m still amazed that they continue to use those containers. We’ll have to wait and see what happens when Jennie moves to this campus in a few months.

      That’s really weird.

My work cafe carries china for eat-in people, and also carries recyclable containers for eat-out but only for cold foods. For hot foods, they insist on styrofoam, and I hate it. I’m trying to get them to switch to something – anything – different.

There should always be a verbal or written notice when ordering food to let you know that recyclable materials are available, but china is not an option for carry out.

Funny thing is that we used to have plastic containers that were because of recycling but one day they went to Styrofoam and now these messages appear. Some days I look at decisions management makes in businesses and wonder wtf out loud.
