Dear John Letter from PittGirl

PittGirl broke up with all of us today and headed off into blogger retirement. As a fan i enjoyed reading the humor every day as a brief escape from the strain of everyday life. While I didn’t always agree with everything I do have to give her respect for holding out as long as she did. Being anonymous online for over 3 years is no easy task and honestly takes skill and really good friends/family to hold that secret. There are a lot of whack jobs out there also. It’s a feeling you get. You known when it’s time to go.
PittGirl’s blog showed that ordinary people have a voice and was the first true blogger celebrity in this town. She was able to stir up controversy and spark creativity in her fans that would be a print media producers wet dream. I’ve actually made some good friends by commenting on her site and if it wasn’t for her site I would have never learned about Something to be Desired which turned into becoming active in Podcamp and well you know the rest.
She’ll get the itch again. We all do. When she does I’ll have my RSS ready ready. Until then enjoy your retirement with a lifetime supply of Zima and pigeon free roaming.
Cheers PG!
BTW, this means you can play on Yinz Team now if you don’t already

Sad to see her go. I know she was a household name in your blogging community. Sometimes we need to move on and travel other avenues; it happens to all of us (present company included).
She should have stuck with it! At least she went out on top!
all things happen in 3′s and there we go!
I need to find a better way to manage my blogroll. There are a lot of new ones I read of local folks I need to add.
She wasn’t that good of a writer, wasn’t funny at all, very self important, and mega narcissistic. This weeks past events prove this.
The embracing of simplemindedness and medocrity in this town kills me. This is not the end of an era. If we define ourselves by her/his/their (whoever PittGirl is or was) worldview, then I don’t want to be a Pittsburgher. That’s the problem. This region has an identity crisis. Why can’t we be like New York or Chicago and just all be who we want to be individually? Then Pittsburgh becomes truly diverse and not this place where belonging means wearing mesh Steeler jerseys every weekend. ARGH.
PittGirl = PG = Post Gazette
@Honesty- Maybe you need to move to another city. Your negativity certainly doesn’t help this region move forward. You’re saying that we’re having an identiy crisis but then you say we should be like NY or Chi-town. Kind of contradictory.
Misses PittGirl and Think she was great for the city! It sucks people couldn’t let her stay anonymous. I look forward to playing with her on the Yinz team (though I might all ready!)
And “honestly” if NY or Chi-town is so much better…move there. No one will force you to wear a Steeler’s jersey there.
haha you gals are fantastic!
