Happy Blogiversary pghbloggers.com!

Pittsburgh Bloggers was started back in November 3 years ago by friends Cindy and Woy as a directory for all of the bloggers in Pittsburgh (thanks to Uncle Crappy for reminding me of their birthday) to reside. I believe now there are over 600 blogs listed on the site.

I have kept a web log since 97 and posted online audio but it wasn’t until the last 3-4 years that someone actually coined a phrase for it. It was the original Pittsburgh Podcamp that I realized how many gifted bloggers/podcasters that we really have in this city and now I was making friends with them. Even more shocking was the realization that all of us knew each other through someone else. Oh yeah and then the bomb dropped that a lot of us were either originally from Erie,PA or had ties to the city.

Stop out tonight for Blogfest 12 at Finnegan’s Wake. I’m trying to re-work my schedule so I can attend but I’m not making any promises.

So … there won’t be pasties and g-strings?

      Forget it. I’m not coming.

Tonight’s blogfest will be very fun indeed, thanks to all the nice publicity people like you have been giving it (even without the g-strings).

I need to mention that, in addition to Mike Woycheck and me, quite a few others were involved in the first BlogFest and helped with setting up PghBloggers.org. There are the girls at http://innerbitch.net, and Anne who used to have a knitting/literature blog but now blogs elsewhere, and lots of people who made suggestions and gave us advice and spread the word and came to the events. It takes a real life community to make an online community.

Ah thanks Cindy for the update on the history of the site. We can blame Crappy for it :) What I love about the community here is that there is no elitist attitudes towards anyone. We’re all a family, and like you said, a community.

Thanks also for helping to put gatherings like this together. sickpuppy is working late tonight so I may be able to show up (flying solo) to this if I can get one more person to reschedule a meeting.

      Ditto what Cindy said.
And I’m glad that you made it down. Somewhere, I know Mav was smiling. Or sighing. I’m not sure.
